Tea basin is used as a container to warm teapots and teacups, or a trash can for tea residue. It is essential in a tea setting.

The color of this tea basin, tabby, is the secret sauce of Bao-lai Ceramics. It is changeable, sometimes maroon and sometimes yellow. The pattern is also changeable, like spots or like waves. The tabby glaze is hard to control, but we embrace the challenge. All things we do are to provide the best product.

Lee Huai-Jin, a ceramist in Bao-lai, empowered women to become craftsmen after Typhoon Morakot. The process of making ceramics takes more than 72 steps, and the craftsman needs to practice making each ceramics for 3000 times at least. Therefore, the craftsmen in Bao-lai are usually called “dorks”.

During these years, we have integrated craft into life. The pottery of Bao-lai Ceramics shows special marks of nature and the close relation between humans and land through glaze firing. All ceramics are full of the warmth and kindness of Bao-lai.
