Description

This cloche hat has a lower brim, and circle and simple shape; the bark-liked and cloud-liked pattern constitutes the hat. We use indigo dyeing, which needs to dye repeatedly more than twenty times to fix the color.

Size: 31 cm(L) x 28 cm(W) x 19 cm(H)
Material: cotton
Dyestuff: Strobilanthes cusia / true indigo
Method of dyeing: indigo dyeing

Strobilanthes cusia, also known as Assam indigo, is originally from India. True indigo is the original specialty of Taiwan. The artisans of Bao-lai Plant Dye soak fabrics in a homemade indigo dyeing tank about three to five minutes, then take those fabrics out the tank for oxidizing around three to five minutes. The artisans need to repeat these two steps more than twenty times to ensure the color fixing. Finally, the artisans put dyeing fabrics in a water tank to remove impurities, then hang them dry in a cool place.
Every artisan of Bao-lai Plant Dye has individual colorful marks on her fingers and nails. We use roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and bark from local plants to extract natural dyes. Then, we apply various techniques to dye grey cloth, make it become a creative fabric with natural texture and color. Whether the color is, each product is a unique gift from the earth.

※ Please hand wash it gently with a neutral detergent. Do not use sharp or metal tools to clean it. Do not soak it for a long time.
※ Hang it dry in a cool place and avoid direct sunlight.
※ The dyestuffs we used are extracted from natural plants. Therefore, the colors of each product are different due to the change of seasons, plant growth, and moisture. The product pictures show similar colors, but not the same. Please consider this information before you order.
※ The product is also sold in Sai-A-Ka Culture Shared Space. Please confirm whether it is in stock by the message before you order. The pre-order period is 45 days.
